Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
* Manage and QA complex and contentious cases related to licensing casework.
* Staff/team line and matrix management – a key role in the licensing team providing a coordinated and consistent approach to service delivery, customer focus, and legislative compliance to ensure efficient delivery of our licensing function.
* Support NatureScot's compliance monitoring approach including undertaking site visits as necessary.
* Project management - Lead on improvement projects to systems and licensing approaches to ensure we provide an efficient, effective, and enabling licensing service.
* Policy and legislative development – support internal colleagues developing licensing approaches including Grouse shooting and Muirburn Bill.
* Input to and coordinate current and future reporting requirements and policy development.
* Communication - Provide advice to NatureScot’s media team, stakeholders, and others in relation to licensing queries.
Skills Required (Please refer to these in your Supporting Statement)
* Good understanding or experience of NatureScot’s licensing functions, with particular focus on policy and legislation.
* Understanding of wildlife management approaches and the need for wildlife management.
* Project Management.
* Staff/team management (includes line and matrix management).
* Good communication skills including the ability to deal with a wide range of stakeholders and to understand and appreciate their needs including in relation to novel and contentious cases.
* Good organisational and time management skills to effectively prioritise a high volume of reactive and proactive workload.
Prerequisites Required
* Proof of right to work in UK.
* To undertake a Disclosure Scotland application.
* Although Gaelic language is not a prerequisite, it is a desirable skill in support of our commitment to our Gaelic Language Plan.
