Job Title: Infrastructure Signalling & Telecommunications (S&T) Technician\nLocation: Wednesbury, West Midlands\nSalary: £42,887.52 per annum\nHours: Flexible, will be required to workdays, nights and weekends\n\nRole Purpose:\n* Support the mission to provide a safe, secure, reliable, and sustainable tramway.\n* Efficiently undertake tasks within the Signalling and Telecommunications Infrastructure team, ensuring maintenance and repair activities are performed safely and effectively, with all assets maintained in accordance with required standards.\n\nRole Responsibilities:\n\n* Ensure inspection, maintenance, and repair tasks are completed timely and in compliance with the planned maintenance schedule.\n* Adhere to correct procedures for all work tasks.\n* Always maintain a safe and professional approach.\n* Report all work activities and faults to the S&T Team Leader.\n* Complete all relevant documentation promptly and update the Asset Management Information System as required. \n* Conduct maintenance and repairs on signalling and telecommunications equipment. \n* Oversee contractors performing planned works on signalling and telecommunications equipment.
\n* Assist in testing and commissioning new systems.\n* Perform switching of electrical substations. \n* Support other disciplines within the infrastructure department as needed.\n* Demonstrate flexibility to respond to emergency situations and unplanned repairs outside of normal working hours.\n* Participate in on-call duties. \n* Undertake other duties as reasonably required by management.\n* Engage in succession management activities related to the Team Leader role as required.\n* Work night shifts to perform maintenance and repair work as reasonably required by management.\n\nEducation:\n\n* GCSEs in Maths, English, and Science at Grade C/4 or above.\n* Recognised Electrical Qualification at Level 3 or above.\n* IOSH certification.\n* Management and Leadership qualification to a minimum of ILM Level 2 or equivalent.\n* Ability to interrogate and program parameters into industrial-based safety-critical signalling software.\n* Competence in fibre and data maintenance, repair, and installation, including all associated converters and systems.\n\nQualifications:\n\n* Recognised Electrical Qualification at Level 3 or above.\n* Experience in the use of computer-based diagnostic equipment.
\n* Demonstrable computer literacy and writing skills. \n* Ability to read and understand electrical schematics. \n\nExperience:\n\n* 6+ years in rail or similar electrical maintenance environments.
\n* Strong knowledge of signalling and communication systems. \n* Ability to read and understand electrical schematics. \nAdditional Information:\n* Flexibility to respond to emergency situations and unplanned repairs outside of normal working hours.
