Brief Description of the Role:
The Clinical Engineering department is responsible for trust-wide management of medical devices. Staff are based at two main departments within Bradford Royal Infirmary and St Luke's Hospital and also serve various health centres and clinics throughout the Bradford region. The successful applicant will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of a wide range of medical devices.
Summary of most important Experience/Skills/Qualifications required:
Experience of working within engineering is essential, with clinical engineering experience desirable.
A BTEC or a level 3 qualification in an engineering-based subject is required; however, applicants demonstrating equivalent medical engineering experience will also be considered.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a keen individual with an Engineering background to support the commissioning, repair, and maintenance of a range of medical devices across Bradford Teaching Hospitals.
The successful appointment will demonstrate the skills, attributes, and professionalism to work both within the patient environment and Clinical Engineering setting.
Job responsibilities
1. To undertake duties in and be involved with the maintenance work of the section, as directed by the Team Leaders.
2. To undertake any project work as directed by the Team Leaders.
3. To work within the quality system and assist in its maintenance and development.
4. To ensure that equipment service records are accurately kept in the Clinical Engineering e-Quip database.
5. To report to the Team Leaders any perceived deficiencies in the tools required or the personal training required to competently perform your duties.
6. To keep equipment stock spares at the correct level, requiring re-ordering when stocks are low.
7. To work flexibly when required, meeting the requirements of the Service.
8. To perform such duties at a comparable level of responsibilities, as may normally be agreed with the job holder.
9. To travel to other hospitals when necessary in the execution of their work; a driving licence holder is essential.
Person Specification
Experience
* Experience of working in an engineering discipline.
* Experience of working within a Clinical Engineering environment.
Skills
* Highly developed physical accuracy and eye coordination for working on complex equipment.
* Able to exercise own initiative when dealing with issues within own area of competence.
* Able to concentrate when subject to unpredictable working patterns and when working on complex equipment.
* Able to deal with distressing circumstances when working in clinical areas most days.
Knowledge
* Understanding of Information Governance and Confidentiality.
Qualifications
* Level 3 qualification, i.e., NVQ, BTEC National, or demonstrate equivalent experience in a medical engineering-based subject.
* Specialist knowledge gained through technical training courses.
Other Requirements
* Full UK Driving Licence.
