We are working with a well-known client in the Asphalt Sector, recruiting for a high-profile role as a Plant Manager based in Birmingham.
You will be responsible for leading and managing the team in the running of a busy Asphalt plant, ensuring H&S is prioritized while meeting the production needs of our customers.
Reporting to the Area Asphalt Manager, key tasks will include:
1. Ensuring compliance with all Company and statutory Health, Safety and Environmental policies and regulations, promoting best practice with the team in all aspects of the operation.
2. Ensuring customer satisfaction is achieved by providing a best-in-class service and experience for collections and deliveries alike.
3. Managing the effective operation and maintenance of all assets to maximize productivity and control costs against agreed budgets.
4. Management, planning, and implementation of preventative and unplanned maintenance to ensure the efficient operation of the site.
5. Commitment to managing and motivating plant staff on a day-to-day basis, focusing on individual personal development through personal support and the identification and implementation of specific training needs.
6. Maintaining administrative records in all areas of the business including Health, Safety and the Environment; Personnel; Sales; Procurement; Quality; and Energy Management.
Additional Information:
1. Responsible for a team of 4 - one assistant manager and three multiskilled operatives.
2. As it's a small team, this is a very hands-on position - the Plant Manager will carry out all positions (mixing/shovel/weighbridge etc.) on a daily basis.
3. 48 Hours per week, 2200 annualized hours contract.
4. Typical hours - Mon-Fri and alternative Saturdays 6-9 - expectation to be flexible (e.g., breakdowns/maintenance).
5. Position comes with a company van/fuel card.
6. Salary up to £43k depending on experience.
7. Ideally, we would like the candidate to have worked in our industry with asphalt experience being a real benefit.
Experience and Qualifications required:
1. Experience gained in Quarry / Coating plant operations.
2. Competence in electrical and mechanical maintenance programmes.
3. Competent user of IT systems, including SAP.
4. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and people management skills.
5. SHE NVQ Level 4 achieved or progressing.
6. Up-to-date personal CPD folder.
