Residential Main Contractor
Permanent: Up £75,000 + Package DOE
Hybrid Site & Office based
Office Location: Worcester
We are currently searching for a Design Manager to join a successful residential main contractor overseeing three of their sites valuing between £10m £30m. this will be a hybrid role with a mixture of office-based and site-based working, depending on build stages.
These schemes are a mixture of RC frame, steel frame, traditional build, and cut & carve builds so they can offer a great mix of project styles. As Design Manager you will be reportable to the Managing Director.
Roles & responsibilities:
Design Coordination Manage and coordinate architectural, structural, and MEP designs to align with project requirements.
Compliance & Regulations Ensure designs comply with building regulations, planning permissions, and industry standards.
Programme Management Oversee design timelines to align with construction schedules, avoiding delays.
Stakeholder Liaison Act as a key contact between clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams.
Risk Management Identify and mitigate design risks that could impact cost, quality, or programme.
Value Engineering Work with teams to optimize design solutions for cost efficiency without compromising quality.
Technical Support Provide guidance on design queries, resolving clashes between disciplines.
Document Control Manage design documentation, ensuring the latest revisions are issued to site teams.
Experience required:
3+ years experience working as a Design Manager for a residential contractor.
Experience with the full life cycle of schemes would be beneficial.
Strong communication skills with the ability to manage up to 3 schemes simultaneously.
