We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Approved Clinical Coding Trainer with excellent communication skills to join our friendly clinical coding team. Reporting to the Head of Clinical Coding, you will work alongside existing team leaders and auditors to deliver a comprehensive clinical coding training program to the whole team.
The Trust offers a flexible agile working policy allowing hybrid working between the office and home and flexibility of hours to allow staff to maintain a good work/life balance. Applications for a fully remote position would also be considered.
All applicants must be willing to maintain their skills by attendance on workshops and refresher training courses. Applicants without the necessary training qualification may be considered for a Trainee Trainer role and will be supported to achieve the NHS Digital approved clinical coder trainer qualification. This role would be band 5 to progress to band 6 on qualification. Applicants for the trainee trainer role must hold the National Clinical Coding Qualification and have a minimum of two years post-qualification coding experience.
Responsibilities:
1. Be responsible for the management and delivery of effective and comprehensive Clinical Coding training programmes for all clinical coding staff. Deliver licensed training workshops as published by the Clinical Classifications Service and devise bespoke training material to achieve and maintain the highest level of competency and accreditation.
2. Be responsible for the development and implementation of individual mentorship and training programmes to ensure that the clinical coders are confident and effective in their roles.
3. Support the Clinical Coding Management in developing and training all staff in the Clinical Coding Team, aiding their work towards the National Clinical Coding Qualification and advanced experience in all relevant specialty areas.
4. Work closely with the Clinical Coding Audit Manager and Clinical Coding Coordinator to maximise data quality, competency of the team, and implement improvement plans for the department.
The clinical coding department is a growing team of qualified/experienced coders and trainees and apprentices with one qualified auditor. The team has a base at Torbay Hospital and offers the flexibility of both home working and office work.
