As our next Mechanical Fitter, you will gain exposure to a variety of “blue chip” companies gaining a wealth of knowledge to take your skills to the next level. You will be working within the Energy Business Unit performing Mechanical Fitting activities across power generation facilities located within the Midlands.
What does a day looks like?
1. Carry out installation and maintenance works on plant equipment including critical works on site turbines.
2. Hold experience with Rotalign equipment and the process of alignment.
3. Carry out pipework assembly on auxiliary systems.
4. Assist the on-site mechanical team with coupling and fastening of turbines to auxiliary equipment.
5. Assist the on-site mechanical team with installation/overhaul of turbines (Rotor removal and installation, re-installation of turbine casings, installation of burner systems).
6. Use tooling and measuring equipment, in association with engineering drawings and layouts, to a high tolerance level, to ensure the assembly is built right first time.
7. Use lifting equipment and fixtures to complete this process and complete associated paperwork including the recording of build figures and ensure they are within required limits.
8. Maintain high standards of quality both in your fitting work and paperwork.
What's essential?
1. Previous fitter experience.
2. Trained or qualified as an apprentice or to an equivalent NVQ level 3 in Mechanical.
3. Knowledge of mechanical assemblies and working to Standard Operation Procedures.
4. Excellent attention to detail to assemble components to high precision and fit limits.
5. Assembly of pipework systems and Swagelok products; holding of Swagelok Installation Card is advantageous.
6. Strong safety and quality driven mindset and collaborative teamwork approach.
7. Methodology of turbine systems.
