Operations Shift Technician Spalding, Lincolnshire, England, United Kingdom The Role We’re looking for a Shift Technician to join our growing team You will be responsible for operating our Spalding Power Station safely and efficiently by performing routine testing, monitoring the plant activities, and carrying out any required maintenance to help us ensure that the plant is reliable, and availability is always maximised. Role Summary · Operation and supervision of the power generation process from a central control room, including internal and external plant operations & checks and predictive & preventive monitoring tasks, · Carry out various operational processes to ensure that the plant is fully prepared for return to service following maintenance, outage or other shutdown period · Carry out routine on-load and off-load testing of plant and apparatus to ensure that safety critical protective systems and stand-by systems are fully functional and ready for operation, · Achievement of full Safety Controller authorisation and upgrading to Shift Team Leader is a requirement of this position. · Undertake and complete training to enact the duties of Acceptor, Issuer and Appointed Person roles (including HV apparatus operation & switching up to 400kV) under the InterGen Safety Rules. · Carry out analysis of water / steam cycle and environmental chemistry and implement corrective actions · Reviewing, writing, and amending procedures. Updating site drawings and plant labelling. Implementing changes and improvements as required, to ensure all procedures, drawings and labels are accurate, · Use of Maintenance Management System for quality defect reporting and to record the completion of operational, maintenance and HSE/compliance tasks, · Performing emergency response duties whilst supporting the Shift Team Leader and management teams · Full participation in all availability and reliability programmes whilst taking ownership of individual actions to drive effective improvements. Why you? As our next Shift Technician, you will need to have a minimum of 3 years expertise in heavy industrial power generation plant equipment, such as gas and steam turbines and high-pressure boilers. You must have previous experience with the systems and processes including the balance of plant systems and distributed control systems (DCS). Having a solid grasp of industry safety regulations is essential. You will be a great communicator, have strong interpersonal skills and have proficient I.T abilities.
