Job summary This is a new post to increase the level of medical support in the Learning Disability Service. The Trusts Durham and Tees Valley Learning Disability Service provides specialised community and inpatient services to adults with a learning disability alongside a range of health and social care partners. The post also contains protected time for a special interest, such as medical education. In the event that the appointed person has an alternative special interest, then the use of this time will be negotiated at the time of appointment and in job planning. It is anticipated that the majority of your clinical responsibilities will be within the North Tees Community Learning Disability Team. The North Tees Community Team provides a specialist service to adults with a learning disability who live in the Stockton and Hartlepool locality. The team has an active caseload of around 400, with between 20 and 50 allocations per month. Dr Amarasuriya is an established and highly experienced consultant who will supervise your clinical work. Any additional responsibilities or changes to this arrangement would be appropriately Job Planned. Main duties of the job You will provide a timely and high-quality psychiatric service as part of the community learning disability team. You will provide initial assessment and ongoing reviews for adults with a learning disability who are open to the clinical team. You will provide such assessments in team bases and community settings as appropriate. You will attend formulation meetings, team meetings and leadership meetings as agreed in your job plan. You will work under an appropriate level of clinical supervision for your level of experience.
