Main duties of the job Applications are invited for a full-time (10PAs) Consultant T&O Surgeon with an interest in Lower Limb Arthroplasty and Revision Surgery. The successful candidate will contribute to the T&O on-call rota which is currently (1:12) with prospective cover. The catchment area of Medway NHS Foundation Trust covers a population of approximately 350,000. The Department of Trauma & Orthopaedics has 3 dedicated ward areas (Harvey ward, Phoenix ward and Ocelot ward which includes 14 protected ultra clean elective beds). They are situated in the new extension at the Medway Maritime Hospital (Level 3 Green Zone) commissioned in March 1999. A Surgical High Dependency Unit was opened in 2006 and a Surgical Assessment Unit was opened in 2005. Presently, the Department of T&O consists of 15 Orthopaedic Consultants, 2 Orthogeriatric Consultants, 5 Specialist Trainees (KSS Deanery), SAS Doctors, Foundation doctors and SHO's. It Provides a range of trauma, upper and lower limb, boot & ankle, diabetic foot and spince subspecialties. The Specialist Trainees are allocated as per their training requirement.
