About the role
This is a challenging and technical role and on completion of your training, you will be skilled and experienced in a range of complex operational tasks.
As a Production Technician, it is your job to operate and maintain the water treatment works which play a vital role in ensuring that we supply clean and safe water to our customers.
Operating to the highest standards, our treatment works use a range of different technology, chemicals and scientific instruments to produce some of the best drinking water in the world.
In this role, you will gain an in-depth knowledge of the different cleaning processes.
You will learn how to operate specialist water cleaning technology, handle and store chemicals safely, use test and analytical equipment, and help detect faults and problem solve.
You will be doing your bit to help maintain Wessex Water's position as one of the best performing water and sewerage companies in England and Wales.
What you'll do
You will learn how to operate specialist water cleaning technology, handle and store chemicals safely, use test and analytical equipment, and help detect faults and problem solve by gaining an in-depth knowledge of the different cleaning processes.
Duties will also include:
* Routine maintenance or monitoring.
* Responding to alarms.
* Emergency fault finding.
* Receiving delivery of chemicals, ensuring all health and safety procedures are being followed.
* Dealing with a highly regulated food product (drinking water).
* Meeting relevant regulations.
* Monitoring and record keeping.
Where you'll work
You will be required to travel to different locations. A company vehicle will be supplied to you when you are ready to work independently.

Further Information
Duration: Three years plus end point assessment.
Qualifications:
* Water Industry treatment Process Technician Apprenticeship Level 3.
Training provision:
* Training will be delivered at YTL Wessex Academy.
* Monthly workshops and 1:1 days with your Wessex Water Skills Coach once a month.
* Training will be on site by qualified Wessex Water instructors.
* Weston College delivers a short training course as part of this apprenticeship.
* Maths and English is delivered online.
