Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support the educational development of students, particularly those with special needs. The ideal candidate will have a passion for education and a strong ability to communicate effectively with children, especially those on the autism spectrum. This role involves working closely with teachers to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment for all students.
Duties
1. Assist the lead teacher in delivering educational activities and lessons tailored to the needs of students.
2. Provide support to children with special educational needs, including those with autism, ensuring they can engage fully in classroom activities.
3. Help manage classroom behaviour and promote positive interactions among students.
4. Communicate effectively with students, fostering an environment where they feel safe and encouraged to express themselves.
5. Support individual students in their learning, providing additional assistance as needed, particularly in areas such as literacy and numeracy.
6. Participate in planning and preparing educational materials that cater to diverse learning styles.
7. Assist with toddler care when required, ensuring their safety and well-being during activities.
8. Maintain accurate records of student progress and report any concerns to the lead teacher.
Requirements
1. Previous experience working with children, particularly those with special educational needs or autism, is highly desirable.
2. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, enabling effective interaction with students and staff.
3. A genuine passion for educating children and supporting their individual needs.
4. Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated.
5. Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards fostering children’s development.
6. Relevant qualifications in education or childcare would be an advantage but are not essential.
