‘Growing together in one family’
Our school vision of growing together in one family is at the core of our school and supported through our values of love, friendship, forgiveness, respect and honesty. We pride ourselves on being a nurturing and inclusive school that successfully supports the needs of all our children. Our most recent OFSTED report in November 2023 praised our children for their impeccable behaviour in lessons and for the positive relationships between children and staff. They also praised our SEN provision and the opportunities our school provides for all children.
Due to the retirement of our experienced HLTA at Easter, we have an exciting opportunity for the right person at St John’s School. The Headteacher and Governors are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and dedicated colleague in the role of Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA), who will work as part of a team including teachers and other support staff to support the learning and welfare of the children at St John’s.
We are looking for a HLTA who would support our vision and values. They will be responsible for some PPA cover under the guidance of senior leaders, cover classes for short term absence, and be responsible for delivering a wide range of interventions and classroom support. Our HLTAs at St John’s work closely with our SENDCO to help plan interventions across the school and support other staff in their roles. Part of this role will also involve providing pastoral support for children 1:1 and in small groups to meet their varied needs. Experience of working with children with SEMH needs and delivering pastoral interventions is desirable.
It is essential that you hold NVQ level 4 or an equivalent HLTA qualification. Please see the attached pack for further information.
We are offering a school with an established whole school Christian ethos that maintains excellent academic standards and behaviour for all pupils. Our children are eager to learn and are involved in their own learning. We are a friendly, welcoming school where everyone is valued, with enthusiastic and motivated staff, supportive and committed governors, and parents.
The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of its children and expects all staff to share this commitment. The appointment will be conditional upon appropriate checks via the Disclosure & Barring Service.
To apply, download the attached application form, complete it, and return it to the school either by post at the above address or email: office@stjohnsji.co.uk by 12pm on Friday 28th February 2025. Interviews: Week beginning 3rd March 2025. Visits to the school are also warmly welcomed by prior arrangement with the Headteacher, Mrs J Grindley; please call 01484 644444.
Further information about the school can be found by visiting our website at www.stjohnsji.co.uk.
This job is subject to a DBS check at the appropriate level; please refer to the Job Description/Profile. A conviction may not exclude candidates from appointment but will be considered as part of the recruitment process.
