What you'll do:
We have an exciting opportunity for an Events Supervisor to join the team at Westonbirt Arboretum. The arboretum is one of the largest pay-to-enter visitor attractions in the Southwest, welcoming over 550,000 visitors per year.
Please note, this role includes occasional evening and weekend work.
Where you'll work:
The West England Forest District team are custodians of 38,500 ha of the Nations Forests in the west and south-west of England. Our woods can be found from Shrewsbury in the north to the majestic veteran trees of Savernake Forest near Marlborough, and the conifer forests on Bodmin Moor, and ancient woodlands of the Glynn Valley in Cornwall.
The district is based in the historic Forest of Dean which lies between the rivers Wye and Severn in Gloucestershire. Over two-thirds of our woodlands lie in protected landscapes, with two National Parks, and numerous National Landscapes and sites of special scientific interest. Our team sustainably produces over 220,000 tonnes of timber per annum, whilst providing safe homes for a wide range of wildlife from the common to the rare. We are proactively managing our woods to mitigate against our changing climate and the biodiversity crisis. We are passionate about welcoming visitors to the Nations Forests and encouraging everyone to enjoy our natural world in a responsible way, supporting healthy lifestyles and mental health.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Support the operational planning and delivery of all events at Westonbirt Arboretum.
2. Assist with the preparation of event management documentation for internal and external communications.
3. Oversee contracts and contractors effectively including the procurement of new goods and services when required.
4. Ensure compliance with health and safety onsite.
5. Keep accurate financial records to ensure events are delivered within budget.
6. Review and comment on event planning and health and safety documents prepared by the national team, external contractors, and 3rd party providers.
7. Issue permissions for 3rd party events.
8. Work closely with the marketing team to promote and advertise onsite events.
9. Respond to and resolve visitor feedback.
10. Knowledge of the conservation management plan.
11. Work with the wider team to secure new events and income streams.
12. And any other task reasonably requested by your line manager.

Essential professional and technical experience:
1. Operational experience of delivering events, preferably within an outdoor environment.
2. The ability to communicate clearly, both in writing and in presentations, engaging internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
3. Experience in people supervision with either staff, volunteers or contractors.
4. Experience of customer relationship management within an events context.
5. Competent IT user with experience in MS Office suite of applications.
Desirable professional and technical experience:
1. Degree or equivalent professional qualification in a relevant subject.
2. Experience of contract management.
3. Knowledge of outdoor recreation or land management sector.
4. Full UK driving licence.
Qualifications:
Desirable: a relevant accredited Health and Safety qualification such as IOSH or NEBOSH.
