West Yorkshire Police is looking to recruit a number of Speed Camera Enforcement Operators to join its Central Prosecution & Casualty Prevention Unit based in Bradford.
As an integral part of the Camera Enforcement team, you will work independently to enforce speed limits on the road network within the West Yorkshire Police area. This is not an office-based role; it is a public-facing enforcement role.
After relevant training, you will operate mobile and fixed speed recording equipment and support the Judicial process by presenting expert evidence at Magistrates and Crown Court regarding speed enforcement.
To be considered, you will have experience in a public-facing role, a proven understanding of computer applications such as MS Office, and a working knowledge of relevant common operating systems such as MS Windows.
You will be required to complete a manual lifting and handling course and hold a full current UK Manual driving licence (Automatic licence is not applicable). Due to the nature of the role, you must have the emotional resilience to deal with challenging situations.
Working arrangements are 37 hours per week on a rotational shift basis, including weekend working, which will attract a 14% enhancement. You will be required to work unsupervised. The work pattern is 0600 to 1600 / 1400 to 2200 on a 6 on/3 off basis, including weekend working but no bank holiday working.
Relevant training will be provided in operating procedures related to type-approved speed detection devices linked to recording equipment. A basic understanding of speed legislation and the Highway Code is essential.
Benefits:
* A Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS).
* An Employee Assistance Service (EAS) – 24/7 access to helplines and resources to support your wellbeing.
* The option to participate in a ‘cycle to work’ scheme.
* The option to participate in the emergency services discount scheme known as ‘Blue Light’ - providing members with discounts online and on the high street.
Closing date for applications: 23:55 hours on 28th July 2024.
West Yorkshire Police is committed to improving the diversity of its workforce to better reflect the diverse communities we serve. We welcome applications from all minority groups and individuals who identify with one or more of the protected characteristics as defined by the Equality Act 2010.
Applicants should be aware that it is not always possible to carry out adequate vetting checks on persons who have not been resident within the UK for the last three years. Therefore, where this applies, applicants may be refused if they cannot be vetted to the appropriate standard.
