Overview of role To be an integral part of our business unit operational senior leadership within the social value team and to lead social value strategy and activity working across one of our business units - energy, buildings, advisory, transportation or water. The role will have a specific focus on delivering Mott MacDonald's social value commitments, supporting working winning, capturing, monitoring, and reporting on progress and performance. There is an added requirement to manage junior members of the team as well as up-skill and build capacity around understanding of social value requirements at Mott MacDonald. This will include leading on the following activities: Drive and feed into the continuous improvement around Mott MacDonald's operational social value approach. Develop unit, sector, and project specific social value action plans. Manage delivery of agreed action plans, monitor, measure, and report on performance. Work closely with bid teams and respond to tendering requirements. Delivery of upskilling and capacity building workshops to colleagues in specific unit. Liaise with early career professionals to develop understanding of social value. Attend and speak at external events and undertake external business development. Identify opportunities for external collaboration with likeminded organisations, clients, and professional membership organisations. Contribute to building Mott MacDonald's reputation for being a leader in social value. Create good news stories, case studies and communicate social value stories via Mott MacDonald's social media channels. In addition, you will be required to support the delivery of the team's existing portfolio of social value work, including Managing and delivering a range of projects across Mott MacDonald's sectors. Engaging with clients and project stakeholders. Managing, coaching, and developing junior members of staff in project teams around social value. Producing reports, action plans and presentations on social value performance. Responding to client briefs around social value. Candidate Specification We are looking for an individual with a passion for this subject area with the following attributes: An excellent knowledge of the Public Services (Social Value) Act 2012, PPN 06/20, and best practice social value delivery. Proven experience of developing social value plans and strategies including, but not limited to, actions around community engagement, supply chain diversification, outreach, apprenticeship schemes, procurement policy and local skills development. Proven experience of contributing to bids and winning work. Experience of project delivery and management - including multiple budgets, managing resources, and working to tight deadlines. Confidence in liaising with senior internal and external stakeholders. Excellent communication skills, including listening, presenting, and writing. Experience in public speaking. An ability to build networks and coach others. A proactive attitude towards innovation, leading initiatives and driving change.
