We're looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and passionate foster carer to join our growing Mockingbird family as a home hub carer.
What is Mockingbird?
Mockingbird led by The Fostering Network in the UK, delivers sustainable foster care. It is an evidence-based model structured around the support and relationships an extended family provides. The model nurtures the relationships between children, young people and foster families supporting them to build a resilient and caring community.
How you'll make a difference
The hub home carer builds strong relationships with everyone in the constellation, empowering families to support each other and overcome problems before they escalate or lead to placement breakdown, which increases protective factors around the children.
What you'll be doing
The Hub Home Carer, together with a Liaison Worker, supports 6-10 fostering families. You will:
- Lead the constellation: hosts monthly social events for all of the families, and coffee mornings or training and development sessions for the carers
- Provide social and emotional support: usually weekly check ins with their satellite carers, but would be more often if needed i.e. if at risk of placement breakdown
- Advocate for the children and foster carers: may attend CIC reviews and TAC meetings
- Support permanency: supports family time arrangements, children moving onto independent living, transitioning placements, onto adoption etc
- Provide practical support: offering planned and emergency sleepovers, support with day care as and when is needed i.e. if a satellite carer has a GP appointment.
What we need from you
- Experience working with children and young people
- Have a spare bedroom, plus another available bed space
- Be a full-time resident in the UK or have leave to remain
- Aged 21 or over
