You may be required to work in other designated locations of the Trust as well as your primary base. The Northampton Specialist haemoglobinopathy team currently incorporates Northampton and Kettering; flexibility is required across the two main hospital sites.
Main duties of the job
* To provide specialist nursing support ensuring the quality of care provision to adults who have Haemoglobinopathy disorders using unit protocols and trust policies and guidelines.
* To work with the multi-professional team to provide patient-focused Haemoglobinopathy services and to initiate different forms of treatment for adults and their families in a variety of settings.
* To create and provide specialist education, training, and information to patients and families.
* To work with the multi-professional team to monitor patient condition.
* To be responsible for nursing practice development alongside the Matron for Haemoglobinopathies to ensure the service is delivered in line with the service specification and within the remit of the allocated budget.
* Recognise the importance of utilization of resources to enable the delivery of the highest standards of care.
* Focus on specialist education and training to all members of the multidisciplinary team within the service.
* The post holder will be a key member of the team to ensure the implementation of the specialist service specification for Haemoglobinopathy.

Service Delivery & Development
* Manage a caseload of patients, delivering individualised and personalised direct patient care.
* Delegate a caseload of patients to the team.
* Provide clinical expertise, specialist advice, and support across the whole spectrum of the service.

* Support the multi-disciplinary team in resolving complex patient problems.

Governance
* Ensure appropriate systems are in place to evidence ongoing compliance with local and national policies as required for CQC standards.
* Participate in audit and research to ensure effective, safe, and evidence-based practice.
* Promote nursing practice research in all relevant clinical areas.
* Promote the specialty by publishing and presenting innovations and research findings.
* Act on audits and research findings to inform and change practice.
* Provide advice and support to assist with the management of complaints relating to the specialty.
Person Specification
Education, Training and Qualifications
Essential
* Educated to Degree level or equivalent.
* Holds an NMC pin.
Desirable
* Evidence of post-registration education to Masters level.
* Clinical Leadership Programme.
Knowledge and Experience

* Relevant clinical experience at band 6 or above.
* Specialist knowledge and experience within the area of specialty.
