Haematology Consultant Specialising in Lymphoma
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Haematologist with an interest in lymphoma and General Haematology to join the team at Withybush General hospital. This position offers a dynamic and rewarding role as we introduce subspecialisation into the health board. Our dedicated team of 7 consultants provides a comprehensive haematology service across four hospitals in an area of outstanding beauty. This post will introduce a Lymphoma subspecialty to our team as part of a redesign of haematology services across the Health Board.
We are looking for someone to contribute to our current service redesign and will be aiming to:
* Promote the delivery of local treatments and care for our patients.
* Develop improvement and increased performance in the service.
* Bring about a single health board-wide haematology service delivered across the four hospital sites.
* Drive quality and governance throughout to improve patient experience and outcomes.
* Introduce more subspecialisation within Haematology.
* Aid in the delivery of a digital network for morphology.
* Support the All Wales haematology services such as the All Wales Lymphoma Panel.
The appointee should demonstrate experience in the management of Lymphoma and General Haematology and will develop this subspecialty across the health board while working alongside generalist consultants.
Inpatients - The appointee will participate in an attending and on-call rota for the Haverfordwest site, with consultative contributions at the three peripheral sites.
Outpatients - The appointee will participate in 3-4 clinics per week within Lymphoma and General Haematology.
There is a weekly health board-wide MDT and opportunities to join other MDTs from all Wales MDTs.
The duties outlined are not definitive and may change in accordance with the needs of the service.
The appointee is required to be GMC registered on the specialist register or be expected to obtain CCT within 6 months.
The appointee will contribute to all aspects of general haematology and haemo-oncology work, including participation in departmental meetings and on-call rota.
10 Sessions with 20% non-clinical work (SPA) per week within the job plan.
Clinics in other hospital sites will be required (virtual clinics are an option).
The appointee must help develop our rural service to ensure excellent patient care.
