At FCDO Services we protect the UK’s interests at home and overseas. We design and construct secure government buildings and courier diplomatic packages worldwide, safeguard government tech and a whole lot more. Our work is as varied and vital as it gets, but we never lose sight of our people. Their skills, aspirations and growth mean as much as the global mission we’re on. In our world, it all matters.
The success of a government project can depend on secure, timely shipments and our Logistics team always deliver the goods. From dedicated drivers to King's Messengers, they've delivered to over 250 destinations worldwide, moving over a million kilograms of freight annually across land, air, and sea. Now, you've got the opportunity to join them.
Delivering globally.
Dispatching each shipment with care.
Seeing your impact go further.
It all matters.
See the bigger picture when planning complex logistics operations
Our Logistics team place great emphasis on getting things where they need to be: safely and securely, on time and within budget. And with you planning the nuances of an array of interesting projects, we’ll continue delivering the highest standards to our customers around the world. Every day will present you with new challenges as you coordinate the logistics of both accompanied and unaccompanied deliveries. Working flexibly to meet the needs of scheduled and non-scheduled projects, you’ll use your exceptional organisational skills to reduce emergency and off-schedule shipments, mitigate risks and ensure our resources are being used to best effect.
What this means for you is a fascinating opportunity in which you will work with global partners to provide robust supplier solutions. From addressing security requirements and providing fully costed solutions, through to producing the relevant documents and handling all health and safety requirements, you will take responsibility for the entire lifecycle of a successful delivery. Plus, you’ll share your expertise with colleagues across the organisation, ensuring we’re continuing to build a seamless logistics provision.
Develop your logistics and supply chain expertise in a workplace like no other
With a logistics operations and supply chain planning and management background, you’ll be a walking-talking encyclopaedia of air, road and sea movements. We’ll encourage you to enhance our processes and drive better value for money, so you will take ownership of delivering profit and loss forecasts for each programme, plus business reviews. You will also collaborate with the procurement team to handle mini tender processes, so you will excel with us if you have experience of price planning, and great financial and commercial acumen.
Your personal skills will be just as important, so if you’re a highly organised individual with exceptional communication and negotiation skills, you’ll be a natural fit here. A calm head when resolving problems in our fast-paced working environment will be essential, and you’ll be a team player who is open to the idea of overseas travel on an ad hoc basis – so you’ll need to be comfortable with high-risk manual handling.
Embrace projects that are varied, challenging and important
But we’re always looking to improve – just like you. That’s why when you join us, expect to receive a competitive salary, generous holiday entitlement and a Civil Service Pension. Along with this, you’ll also have access to training and other development opportunities to help grow your career with us. Our offices have an on-site gym, nursery, café, and restaurant, and we offer interest-free loans on season tickets and bikes to help you get there. It's a great set of benefits made to support all you do, and all you need.
