We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and ambitious Band 5 Radiographer, who likes a challenge, to join the Radiology team at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust.
The successful applicant will join our team of Radiographers where we will provide opportunities for you to develop your career. As a Band 5 Radiographer you will also benefit from rotation through CT.
This post will be based at Stoke Mandeville Hospital but the successful applicant may work cross-site as required. The successful candidate will be expected to partake in the out of hours service, including nights shifts and weekends.
There are dedicated staff and training facilities in each Department and an active audit/teaching programme. The departments also provide clinical placements for under graduate students. We are keen to develop and train staff and support radiographer role extension.
• To work unsupervised in designated areas of imaging, asking advice when necessary and following protocols as appropriate.
• To undertake equipment quality assurance in line with QA Programme.
• Vet and accept imaging requests.
• Use imaging appropriate to the patients’ condition.
• Undertake plain film examinations on sedated or anaesthetised patients (adult and paediatric).
• Develop skills to interpret plain film images sufficient to discuss acquiring further images with a Consultant Radiologist within agreed protocols.
• The post holder will be required to develop skills to identify and mark abnormalities on plain films (Red Dot Procedure) in order to assist referring clinicians to interpret images.
• Be able to work unsupervised out of hours and perform a CT head, spine and KUB examination once trained.
