The post holder will support the lead neonatal educator on the delivery of a comprehensive and ongoing training programme for all staff through clinical teaching and the provision of specialist knowledge and education. This will include supporting a comprehensive orientation and induction programme into the Neonatal Unit, with up-to-date teaching packages underpinning evidence-based practice.

Main Duties of the Job
Within this role, you will be expected to support the lead Neonatal Educator, work with other Clinical Nurse Educators and the Practice Development Matrons to deliver on the wider organisational agenda.
The post holder will be a clinical expert in all levels of Neonatal care and provide hands-on supervision of staff in clinical practice to promote the acquisition of new skills and knowledge.
In conjunction with the clinical staff on the unit, you will be responsible for the assessment, supervision, and development of all members of the nursing team. You will undertake audits and reviews of practice and policies within the unit. The post holder will work alongside the staff in a role as a clinical educator and will be expected to provide direct patient care as part of the educator's role.

Education & Qualifications
* Registered Nurse with current UK professional NMC Registration
* Teaching/Assessing/Mentorship
* Current Mentor on the live database and sign-off mentor
* A nursing-related degree or evidence of practical application/expertise at this level
* Teaching qualification or willingness to work towards
* Leadership Course or willingness to work towards
Knowledge, Training & Experience
* Demonstrates significant knowledge & experience in a Band 5 or above within neonatal nursing
* Significant experience in caring for neonates across all acuity levels within a tertiary Neonatal unit
* Evidence of adjustment to Scope of Practice e.g. IV drug administration, access and use of arterial lines, UACs
* Excellent communication skills and evidence of professional development
* Proven ability to coordinate and delegate workload appropriately
* Responsive to change
* Knowledge of safeguarding children and vulnerable adults
* Awareness of research and evidence-based practice
* Teaching and facilitating experience at a clinical level
