Senior Project Manager sought within Somerset division of global specialist equipment manufacturer offering comprehensive benefits package and further career development opportunities.
The Role
1. Act as the single point of contact responsible for project schedule, cost, risks, and scope; generate a suitable Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) that enables plans to be developed; track progress and provide updates to the programme team and key stakeholders as required.
2. Own the Project's budget, monitoring the expenditures and costs throughout the project.
3. Ensure a suitable responsibility matrix (RACI) has been generated for each project.
4. Develop a RAID log for the project detailing key risks, actions, issues, and decisions. For all risks ensure a suitable mitigation is in place, developing contingency plans, or adjusting project scope, resources, or the timelines as needed.
5. Translate Project status, risks, opportunities, and issues into reliable, consistent, and regular reporting.
6. Lead multidisciplinary teams to deliver end-to-end project milestones and goals.
7. Negotiate with and/or influence senior management to resolve program or project level challenges.
8. Manage project scope and deliverables through a structured change management process to ensure customer expectations are met.
The Person
1. Possess a recognised Project or Programme Management Qualification (e.g. APM PMQ, Prince2), or equivalent experience.
2. Educated to Degree level in a suitable Technical/Engineering/Science discipline.
3. Have significant experience of managing complex technical programmes or projects spanning multiple phases/years to time, spec, and cost; have experience in managing projects with software content.
4. Have demonstrated experience of influencing and managing across global teams.
5. Demonstrated achievements in continuous improvement to systems, processes, or tools.
6. Previous line management or functional management or coaching experience.
7. Have excellent influencing and negotiation skills at multiple organisational levels.
8. Must be able to analyse complex programme requirements and generate a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) as part of high-level programme definition.
9. Experience of project planning tools (such as Microsoft Project), processes and methodologies.
10. Experience of RAID logs (Risk, Actions, Issues and Decisions).
