Job Description
The role is supporting a 33 year-old easy-going young man to live independently at his home in Formby. You would work as one of two carers providing 1:1 support across the week.
With a great sense of humour, he is easy to get on with and has built a great rapport with his carers. He is sociable, outgoing, has a wide social network, and loves going to the cinema, theatre, discos, and meeting his friends and girlfriend.
You would help him prepare for his activities, cook an evening meal, undertake light housework, and spend time with him at home as well as take him to the gym or pool.
He is vulnerable and doesn’t travel independently, so some of the role would be taking him to his social activities in Southport and Maghull. A car will be provided for his journeys. You will not need to provide any personal care.
Starting in January 2025, the role will be 15 hours per week. The number of hours and shifts can be agreed between the two carers but are likely to include 2-3 weekdays: mornings (9-10 a.m.) and evenings (4-9 p.m.) and weekends: afternoons per fortnight (2-5 p.m.).
£13.00/H with potential for increase further during 2025.

He needs support mainly in the mornings and evenings. The main duties will include but are not limited to the following:

3. Daytime or afternoon: Supporting him to access community activities including sport, leisure, and entertainment in Formby and Southport. Cooking an evening meal and sharing this with him. Undertaking light housework in his home (e.g. laundry & cleaning). Spending time at home and driving him to and from evening activities. A car will be made available for this.
4. Respite provision: Although the majority of the work will be timetabled, there will be a need for some flexibility as the hours may change depending on need. There will be occasions when his parents are away, and you will need to provide overnight cover by agreement, staying in a carer's en-suite bedroom in his home. You would be paid for any additional hours at the Sefton agreed rate (currently £130/night).
