It does this by working with men convicted of domestic abuse related offences on a programme to reduce their re-offending while offering integrated services to women and children. The Caledonian Women’s Worker provides safety planning, information, advice and emotional support to women partners and ex-partners. The Caledonian Women’s Worker provides voluntary contact to women and children whose partners or ex-partners are subject to the Caledonian Programme. The Caledonian Women’s Service, as part of the Caledonian System, work very closely with the Caledonian Case Managers, Caledonian programme assessors, Caledonian Groupwork facilitators, Caledonian Children’s Worker, Children and Families Social Work Services, Adult Care Social Work Services, Police Scotland, Housing, Health, and numerous third sector and voluntary agencies in the community. The Caledonian Women’s Worker role is unique in Justice Social Work and is employed to work specifically with the victims of crime whilst the justice service is working with the perpetrators of those offences. The Caledonian Women’s service aspires to provide the service from a trauma-informed perspective. Trauma-informed Care and Practice is a strengths-based framework that is responsive to the impact of trauma, emphasising physical, psychological, and emotional safety for both service providers and individuals they are supporting. Trauma-informed services take into account an understanding of trauma in all aspects of service delivery and place priority on the individual’s safety, choice, and control. This Post is within Justice Social Work Groupwork Team. The successful applicant will form part of a larger team of workers, and will be based in Brunton House in Cowdenbeath, but will work Fife wide. Working days are Monday to Friday. The Person This Post is restricted to female applicants. Trauma-informed approaches should be embedded in your practice. You should possess good communication skills both verbal and written and be able to transfer these in different circumstances. You must have an in-depth knowledge of the experiences and impact living with domestic abuse has on women, children and young people. Experience and skills of providing direct support. At least 2 years’ experience of working in an environment requiring similar knowledge and skills. Able to demonstrate a level of understanding of the challenges faced by women and children facing domestic abuse. Good organisational and IT skills appropriate to level and type of job. Ability to prioritise, work on own initiative, and within teams towards achieving objectives. You must be willing to undertake a variety of essential training including Caledonian Training, SARA training, and the Caledonian’s Women’s Services Training. Before confirming appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.
