Be expected to provide a patient centred service, respecting the privacy, dignity and choice of individual patients. They will be responsible along with General Surgery colleagues for the provision of outpatient and inpatient services within the East Lancashire Hospital Trust. Aim to deliver high quality care with the help of the existing surgical team. Be a team player and flexible with your approach. Be involved in complex clinical, patient management problems and multi-disciplinary planning treatment. On appointment the candidate will have a prescribed number of theatre sessions to deliver during the financial year and an associated level of activity. Share in administrative duties allocated by mutual agreement within the Directorate. Ensure all dictation of clinical letters within 24 hours (mandatory). Observe and comply with clinical and non-clinical policies and procedures (including local and national employment and personnel policies) agreed with employees and in particular, the post holder will be responsible for updating policies and guidelines for the General Surgery service along with colleagues, which should be reviewed annually. Provide support to the complaints process (this may include attending complaint meetings with patients, families and their relatives). Be closely involved in clinical audit and other clinical governance issues. Support the Trainees and Trust Doctors in the daily duties and on-going learning.
