Providing advice
The work you do can have a huge impact on people’s lives, and you will contribute to CACV’s success
You will provide advice on consumer rights including buying goods and services, holidays, energy supply and scams
You will research clients’ inquiries and advise them on their rights, identify potential scams and make referrals to Trading Standards
You will manage challenging calls, speaking to clients who may be distressed and/or have complex advice needs
You will work towards individual and collective targets on call volume and quality of advice
There are no specific qualifications you need to have for this role. However, there are several key skills that you must have to be a successful Consumer Adviser. These include:
Being an excellent communicator to manage clients’ expectations, ensure they understand your advice and that you understand their circumstances
Having a high level of resilience enabling you to deal with the advice needs of clients
Being able to talk and type at the same time to help manage your time effectively
Being able to work collaboratively as part of a team to foster productive working relationships
Be accepting of feedback from your Team Leader, given to help you perform to the best of your abilities
Being organised, self-motivated and adaptable so you can respond to changing client and organisational needs.
We also deliver the Welsh language Consumer Service Helpline. Therefore, we are actively recruiting Welsh-speaking advisers. Fluent Welsh speakers will receive an additional £2,000 per annum once they have passed their probation period.
