Clinical Role To lead clinically in the coordination for patients and relatives undergoing HSCT (autologous/allogeneic) or cellular therapies such as CAR-T therapy. Provide holistic support to patients and their families, using advanced knowledge and skills throughout the process regarding HSCT or cellular therapy issues. Support clinical team with coordination of HSCT and cellular therapy. Ensure patients and families have accurate and timely verbal and written information, providing advice and support allowing informed decision-making. Maintain current protocols with evolving practices and knowledge. Maintaining specialist knowledge of cell therapy. Work collaboratively with all members of the multidisciplinary team to coordinate and plan treatment pathways for cell therapy within the trust and externally. Co-ordinate the daily cell therapy service including the autonomous management of a designated patient case load. Liaise with consultant medical team and matron in the development, implementation, and evaluation of individual programmes of care and protocols. Maintain an accurate record system and collect relevant statistical information for service evaluation, clinical audit, and development to improve patient care and compliance with regulations. Support and initiate the development and review written policies and procedures with information relating to the HSCT & cellular therapy coordination service. Support all members of the team with clinical duties and problem solving, working collaboratively to ensure a smooth and efficient service. Support the accreditation process to maintain JACIE standards and actively participate in the departmental cellular therapy and quality management programme. Ensure the coordination service is represented at the relevant outpatient clinics and ward rounds. Educational Role Act as an expert resource, support staff, and ensure all team members have experience and professional development with the coordination team. Participate in departmental educational sessions for the department and trust staff. Provide education on the University of Manchester courses, e.g., Oncology Course, Principles of Haematology Oncology Course. Support and provide expert advice/education on HSCT & Cellular therapy to community services and referring centres. Maintain own professional development ensuring educational needs are maintained to support the role and evolving practice. Represent the department/Trust at in-house, national, and international study days, conferences, and workshops with informed practice and innovation. Participate in the UK EBMT/BSBMT meetings to ensure growth and education to external colleagues while gaining up-to-date practice in haematology and cell therapy. Leadership and Management Role Manage a cell therapy coordination nursing team, providing professional visible leadership and acting as a role model. Lead where appropriate the establishment of standards for practice and care protocols. Ensure that these standards are audited and participate in the audit process. Lead HSCT/CAR-T planning meetings with medical and laboratory staff in collaboration with the lead apheresis nurse to ensure appropriate planning and activity within department capacity. Research Role Establish and maintain close links with research teams to develop and expand knowledge base in relation to HSCT & Cellular therapy clinical trials. Develop research interests within the specialist field of practice. Participate as required/requested in research and audit initiated by other members of the multidisciplinary team.
