If you are looking for a role in which you will be delivering change while following clearly defined procedures within a highly complex and regulated IT environment, then this could be the position for you.
At NHSBT, our IT systems provide the critical controls that ensure the Blood products we manufacture are safe to release to patients. This role will engage you in ensuring that as we develop and transform these systems, these safety controls are embedded and enhanced.
The work of NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) is vital to every member of our population; our work impacts almost everyone at some point in their lives. It is therefore critical that we are equipped to handle whatever challenges we face in the future, and our Blood Supply and Blood Technology colleagues are at the heart of this work. Working within small teams to deliver the incremental improvements that the C# conversion to our core system requires will ensure we can continue to deliver this service while re-platforming to more current technology.
You will be required to travel and spend time away from base, which will involve working irregular hours when required, with prior notice. This is likely to be on a monthly basis.
Main duties of the job
Responsible for ensuring the safe and effective delivery of technology product change into the live service environment by providing critical specialist knowledge of the technology within their product domain to support the entire software delivery lifecycle (requirements, design, development & testing). Your responsibilities will include:
* Executing the strategic direction of blood technology through delivering the product backlog and leading user acceptance testing.
* Supporting the Lead and Senior Product Managers with the creation and ownership of the product domain vision (demand management process, product backlog, integrated change roadmap) and champion improved ways of working (e.g. Agile).
* Providing subject matter expertise to other domains or projects across the business where critical change to blood technology is involved and therefore a dependency is placed on the product management team's product specialist knowledge (e.g. supporting Plasma For Medicines and Testing Development Programme).
* Managing the safe interaction of equipment used and IT systems to achieve safe donor and patient outcomes in the end-to-end process of managing blood products, including how testing results are characterized by specialist equipment, peripherals used in managing processes like manufacture and their interaction with core blood management systems, and how packs, samples, racks, crates, transport, and storage interact.
