Job Description:
Apply Human Performance Principles, methodologies and technologies to the design of Human-machine systems, products and workstations.
1. Proposing, evaluating and refining own user interface designs.
2. Working with other engineering disciplines to ensure human factors principles are adopted throughout design, and that human-machine interfaces are optimal.
3. Conducting User and Human Factors Working Groups, user trials & evaluations and contributing to technical meetings with customers and suppliers.
4. Managing the User Centred Design process on assigned programmes.
5. Producing Human Factors Integration Plans, HF strategies and cost estimates for bids and proposals.
6. Deriving HF requirements and translating business/programme requirements into appropriate technical specifications.
7. Reviewing and advising on system test plans and acceptance test documentation.
Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with clients and suppliers across all levels of the organisation both internally and with the customer.
You really must have:
1. Minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited University or College in a related subject (e.g Human Factors, Ergonomics, Product Design, Psychology).
2. Experience in user interface design, definition and evaluation.
3. Application of design standards to the development of products, systems and/or services.
4. Use of human factors methodologies, within a consultative, engineering, defence or product design environment.
5. Ability to analyse complex technical problems and provide pragmatic solutions.
6. Strong communication skills, and the ability to write in a clear and concise manner.
7. Positive attitude, and willingness to get involved with tasks across the programme lifecycle.
8. The ability to manage tasks and priorities to ensure that assigned workload is delivered when required.
9. Ability to communicate with a wide range of audiences on sometimes complex issues, topics and engineering principles and practices.

1. Awareness of agile development methodologies.
Understanding of passive / active EW surveillance and detection systems.
