A quick look at the role
We are looking for a visionary Head of Divisional Procurement to lead our Resources & Energy (R&E) embedded procurement team. This is a highly strategic and influential role, that sits on the divisional management team, where you will manage a team of procurement professionals, build and strengthen key business relationships within our R&E division, and lead the execution of the groupwide strategy across four critical categories: Engineering services, Maintenance Repair & Overhaul (MRO), Mobile Plants, and Chemicals. This role encompasses managing a £300m spend and a network of 1,500 suppliers. As the Head of R&E Procurement, you will play a pivotal role in creating and executing strategic procurement initiatives that directly contribute to Biffa’s long-term growth and value creation.

Your core responsibilities
* As part of the divisional leadership team, develop and implement performance-stretching procurement strategies that are aligned with the company’s objectives and goals. Identify and deliver opportunities to enhance cost efficiency, quality, and reliability of supply
* Provide and deliver a high quality ‘Business-Partner’ style service to the whole division designed to provide effective leadership, advice and guidance at a strategic, tactical and operational level within the division.
* Lead, manage and motivate a team of procurement professionals embedded within the division, ensuring they are competent to carry out their roles and contribute to EBITDA delivery targets
* Work collaboratively with the other Biffa operating Divisions and Central Functions, embedding Procurement best practice championing common standards and continuous improvement
* Own the relationship with the divisional management team and their management team to lead the creation of joint Procurement strategies that deliver Biffa and the division business objectives. Challenge the business to consider alternative solutions
* Represent the business in relevant industry events, staying on top of key emerging trends and ensuring procurement strategies remain relevant with market evolution.
* Provide expert Procurement advice and guidance to senior divisional leadership team in service of driving optimal value from supply chain.
* Develop and implement key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of procurement activities and provide regular reports to senior management on performance and cost savings
* Build and maintain strong relationships with Managing Directors, Owners, CEOs of key suppliers and vendors. Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing to ensure favourable conditions for the organisation and minimise risk
* Provide technical guidance and ensure good quality management of change, associated with the introduction of new processes, business undertaking, expansion of existing business undertakings in service of maximising value and minimising Take active role in contributing to building-up the Group Procurement function, collaborating with Procurement Excellence to continuously improve processes, systems and methodologies.risk from the supply chain

Our essential requirements
* 5 years experience in a procurement leadership role
* Experience in being a member of a leadership team, making contributions outside of functional experience
* Proven experience in developing and implementing procurement strategies and generating sustainable, demonstrable bottom-line improvements
* Strong negotiation skills and experience managing supplier relationships
* In-depth knowledge of procurement and sourcing processes, supply chain management, and contract management
