About the role
This 'Good' SEND Alternative Provision, based in Sunderland, supports children and young people aged 11-16 and is looking to appoint a passionate Special Needs Teacher to teach Science Key Stage 3 and 4 classes on a full-time basis. Working in this Secondary SEND Alternative Provision as part of an established team, the desired Special Needs Teacher will be working on a small class sized basis with pupils with SEND complex needs including Autism, Learning Disabilities and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH). This full time Special Needs Teacher role is long term from September ongoing with the possibility of a permanent vacancy for the right person.
The desired Special Needs Teacher must have experience of working within a Science department and be comfortable teaching Science at Key Stage 3 (KS3) and Key Stage 4 (KS4). The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and teaching engaging Science lessons to pupils in KS3 and KS4. Teachers of all Science specialism will be considered for this post. Although schemes of work are in place, the successful teacher will be given autonomy to amend lesson plans for the benefit of pupils. The desired Science Teacher will have previous experience of teaching GCSE Science in line with exam boards such as AQA and BTEC.
