The school is a vibrant and caring special educational needs school that caters to primary students with a diverse range of SEN, behaviour challenges, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. As we continue to grow, we are looking for a passionate and dedicated PE Lead to join our team.
The Role:
As the PE Lead, you will be responsible for developing and delivering an engaging physical education program tailored to meet the specific needs of our students. You will have the opportunity to inspire and motivate our students to discover the joy of physical activity, while promoting their physical, social, and emotional development.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement a PE curriculum that is inclusive and caters to the various needs of our students.
Create a positive and supportive environment that encourages participation and builds confidence in physical activities.
Collaborate with teaching staff and support workers to differentiate lessons and activities for students with varying levels of ability and behaviour needs.
Organize and lead extracurricular activities, sports events, and health initiatives to promote active lifestyles.
Monitor and assess student progress in PE and communicate effectively with parents/carers about their child’s engagement and achievements.
Work closely with external agencies and sports organizations to create opportunities for our students.
Provide training and support to staff on best practices for inclusive physical education.
Qualifications and Skills:
Experience working with children in an educational setting, ideally within an SEN context.
A background in physical education, sports coaching, or a related field is highly desirable.
Knowledge of SEN, behaviour management, and SEMH needs is preferred.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire young learners.
Demonstrated ability to create an inclusive and engaging learning environment.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
QTS is not required, but relevant experience or qualifications in sports coaching or related areas is a plus.
