A Building & Civil Engineering Contractor working throughout Ireland is currently seeking to employ a Contracts Manager to bolster their stable management team. This company works in several key sectors, including Residential, Healthcare, Education, and Civil Engineering / Groundworks. They pride themselves on their expert delivery of projects and have been awarded multiple schemes for 2025/2026, with a secured order book for years ahead. They are now recruiting for a Senior Manager to facilitate their growing order book.
Your new role
With multiple projects starting across the country, this role will be very commutable for candidates based in the border regions. You will be based in their head office in Newry 2/3 days a week and on-site the other days. Initially, you will manage one of their residential projects, coordinating onsite activities and collaborating with Design and Procurement teams to ensure client demands are met. You can expect to oversee heavy civils, mass excavations, piling, contig wall, secant wall, basement construction, dewatering, coordination of foundation/services, radon to substructure level, RC-frame construction, deep drainage, domestic drainage, roads, street lighting, and all finishing/landscaping works.
What you'll need to succeed
The ideal candidate will have experience in building and/or civils work, preferably with a background in residential or large-scale civils/earthworks projects. You should be a strong communicator with a passion for the building trade, commercially aware, and have a proven track record of managing people and trades. You will also possess the following:
1. Extensive experience managing projects within a civils environment.
2. Good working knowledge of contract conditions, CDM regulations, design management, programme and risk management, and cost control, including forecasting, actual cost, and value reporting.
3. Experience with MS Project.
4. Knowledge of the NEC contract, including Early Warning and Compensation events.
5. Educated to a minimum of HNC/HND/Degree level (or equivalent).
6. SMSTS / CSCS card.
