The Role
We are looking to recruit a HR Adviser with experience of working at a senior level to join Bolton Council’s Human Resources team. Working within the Place Section of the HR Team, you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of our high-quality HR Service to the Place Department.
You will be the HR Adviser for your own portfolio of service areas circa 500+ staff and will be responsible for providing expert advice and guidance to managers and employees on a range of HR issues in line with HR policies and procedures, whilst ensuring compliance with employment legislation and best practice.
This is a busy role which will require the postholder to manage a high volume of complex casework including disciplinary, grievance, sickness absence and capability cases. In addition, you will be required to support managers in implementing and managing the consequences of organisational change including restructures, redundancy, redeployment and TUPE.
You will be required to plan and facilitate consultation with the Trade Unions on proposals and changes, to maintain good partnership working and represent HR at other Trade Union consultation meetings as required.
About You
The successful candidate will be CIPD Level 5 qualified with extended experience of providing advice/HR solutions to managers and staff as well as managing your own high volume complex Employee Relations caseload and contributing to the development of the HR policy framework
You will have excellent communication and negotiation skills to persuade and influence within the HR service delivery as well as an up to date working knowledge and understanding of employment law and best practice in employee relations. You will be able to form and maintain effective working relationships, both within and outside the HR team and have experience of working on your own initiative and being able to respond to a variety of situations that can occur on a daily basis.
Following an office-based induction period, hybrid working is available to staff in line with Council policy, with the expectation that the majority of working hours are completed in Bolton Town Hall.
