This is an excellent opportunity for an Anaesthetiststo develop further skills in main theatres covering maternity, gynaecology,orthopaedicand trauma, ophthalmology and ENT whilst also supporting on our 1:8 on-call in Theatre & Obstetrics.
The hospital is a trust of 5 site bases with intensive care departments on 2 of its larger sites and theatres on 3 of the 5 sites. You will be based at the Furness General Hospital with an expectation to cover Westmorland General Hospital as required. All ofour hospitals offer a warm, friendly environment which we pride ourselves upon.
Furness General Hospital is based close to the Lake District. Westmorland General Hospital islocatedon the outskirts of the popular Lakeland town of Kendal. Royal Lancaster Infirmary is based within the Historic City of Lancaster. All our hospitals are situated in areas of outstanding natural beauty, which offer superb outdoor and recreational activities, an ideal base to escape City Centre pressures.Access to good transport links allows for easy reach to many northern cities where you will find a wealth of shops, restaurants,museumsand galleries.
The department runs a full shift pattern with prospective cover for annual leave and study leave. The post is 10-13PA per week depending on agreed job plans of which 1.5PA per week will beallocatedSPA.
• You will join a team of Consultants with several SpecialistsDoctors,Specialty Doctorsand ACCP’ssupporting all general services of the hospital including Accident and Emergency department, Theatres covering maternity, Gynaecology, Orthopaedic and trauma,ophthalmologyand ENT.
• You will work with some supervision while in theatres, experience dependent.
• On-call shifts providenon-residential cover for Theatres and Obstetrics.
• Assessment and preparation of patients for theatre and provision of immediate post-operative care, experience dependent.
• Activelyparticipatein and present clinical audit.
• Demonstrateevidence basedpractice whereappropriate.
• Undertake andparticipatein the appraisal process and job planning.
• Satisfy the criteria for revalidation.
• Contribute to service development in areas of special interest andexpertise.
• Activelyparticipatein continuing medical education.
• Undertake personal appraisal and job-planning as part of revalidation.
• Maintain all mandatory training requirements.
University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay provide undergraduate medical training for Lancaster Medical School students, as well as academic/research links with Lancaster University.
The Trust has a keen interest and extensive involvement in Medical and Dental Education at both Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels.
