Job overview
This role is to manage the Medicine and Older Persons Services junior doctors rotas. The candidate will work alongside other Rota Coordinators and a Rota Assistant to ensure smooth running of the day-to-day service. Alongside the consultants, create, implement and co-ordinate a compliant 24-hour rota for Post Graduate doctors in training. Act as Rota Co-ordinator across the areas of responsibility and where required taking full responsibility for decision making on a day-to-day basis, and being the point of contact for all enquiries concerning on-call rotas, annual leave, study leave, and sick leave.

Main duties of the job
1. Responsible for recording doctor annual/study/sick leave and escalate to relevant Clinical Directors, Managers or consultants areas of concern or threats to service continuity.
2. Ensure the on-call consultant rota is always adequately up to date.
3. Attend Clinical Leads meeting presenting staffing report.
4. Cross cover other Rota Coordinators due to annual/sick leave across the Medical & OPS care group for UHD.
5. Line management of the Band 4 Rota Coordinators.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
1. To be responsible for, create and maintain compliant ward cover and on-call junior staffing rotas across the Medical Care Group.
2. Be able to make decisions regarding the rotas on a day-to-day basis.
3. Be a point of contact for all enquiries concerning medical staffing, including the coordination of annual leave, study leave, sick leave, and budgetary issues relating to medical staff.
4. Be able to identify when issues or decisions need to be escalated to Clinical Leads/Directors, a Manager, or Consultant.
5. Day-to-day management of Doctors staff rota enquiries within the department and to take full responsibility for decision making.
6. To be responsible for the administration of clinical staff annual leave and study leave.
7. Act as an advisor and point of contact for the Directorate Management Team on day-to-day issues.
8. Deal with or escalate as appropriate, complex issues that require resolution, as instructed by clinicians when applicable.

Essential criteria: NHS Policies and Procedures relating to medical staff and admin/sec staff.
Qualifications
Essential criteria: Management/Leadership qualification or Equivalent knowledge and experience of administrative duties in an NHS environment.
Experience
Essential criteria: Demonstrable experience in rota development and administration to a high level.
Technical Skills Competencies
Essential criteria: Demonstrates competence in word processing, spreadsheets & databases.
