Job Title: Senior Mechanical Design Engineer (District Heating) Location: Remote Salary: £60,000 - £66,000 Car Allowance We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team. This role focuses on designing district heating networks, including coordinating with internal and external teams. You'll create designs for plantrooms, energy centres, and buried networks, using AutoCAD for 2D and 3D drawings. Key Responsibilities: Design and size valves, instruments, and piping components. Specify major plant equipment (boilers, CHP engines, pumps, heat exchangers, etc.). Create and detail Bills of Material for plant equipment. Complete site visits and surveys for design data. Participate in design meetings and reviews with clients, contractors, and suppliers. Develop P&IDs and layout designs in AutoCAD. Lead 3D modelling of energy centre installations and district heating networks. Support commissioning activities and snagging. Write tender documents and Operation & Maintenance manuals. Guide junior engineers and review technical documents. Ensure compliance with CDM 2015 regulations. Requirements: 6-10 years of experience in mechanical design. Chartered Engineer status (or working towards). Knowledge of industry standards (CIBSE, British Standards, BSRIA, IGEM). Experience with district heating, CHP, boilers, chillers, and heat pumps. Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D and 3D). Familiarity with construction and design management regulations. Experience with site surveys, project coordination, and subcontractor management.
