Managing Director of Taylors Bell Foundry Museum and Bell Foundry Collections Ltd
Closing Date: Friday 1 November 2024
The Loughborough Bellfoundry Trust (LBT) has just completed a major £5m+ project supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund (Heritage Fund) to save the John Taylor Bellfoundry in Loughborough, the UK’s last remaining bellfoundry. The capital phase of the project, now complete, has seen a major overhaul of the museum, archive and collections, the creation of a new entrance and commercial space and reorganisation of large parts of the site. This landmark project sets the site and the LBT up for a new era of growth and success and Trustees are looking for an energetic and inspiring Director to work with them to lead this next exciting chapter in the history of this unique place.
The Loughborough Bellfoundry is the home of John Taylor & Co. (Taylors), which has been based on the site since 1859 and has cast more than 25,000 bells hung in the cathedrals, churches, universities and public buildings of over 100 countries. 20 million people in Britain, and hundreds of millions worldwide, hear a Taylor’s bell every day and Taylors remains a busy thriving business. There is a strong, collaborative relationship between the LBT (the landlord) and Taylor’s (the tenant). A key part of the role will be to continue to nurture this relationship, grow collaboration and mutual support.
Trustees are looking for a candidate who can see the opportunity that the Lottery funded project has created, bring enthusiasm and entrepreneurialism, and drive the organisation and the site forward.
