Technical Engineering Officer (Mechanical Bias)

Full time – 37.5 hours per week – Mon-Fri 0800 – 1600 hours
Salary £40,389.54 - £47,362.84 depending on experience plus basic Serco benefits.
Main Purpose:
Reporting into the Technical Engineering Manager (Mechanical) you will be part of the senior engineering services team providing high level technical support to the Hard FM estates service delivered by Serco to our customers at the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital. This includes support to the front-line day to day maintenance team, small works, lifecycle replacement work and capital projects.
Working as part of a team supporting both the mechanical and electrical infrastructure, this is a key role responsible for managing, implementing, monitoring and maintaining statutory, mandatory and contractual compliance across all services to include; Ventilation Systems, Water Management (HWS & CWS Services), Medical Gas Systems, Decontamination, Pressure Systems, Boilers, MTHW System, Steam, Hydrotherapy Pool etc.
This vacancy within the Team will have a key focus on Hospital Ventilation Systems, Local Exhaust Ventilation and Fire Damper management.

We are looking for a self-motivated, flexible, customer focussed and pro-active individual with strong work ethic and proven experience and knowledge of mechanical infrastructure, systems, plant and equipment to join our team.
Main Accountabilities:
* plant and equipment related activity.
* Manage and maintain compliance to appropriate legislation, standards and guidance.
* Management and input into third party contractor services.
* Ensure all relevant statutory inspections etc. are carried out in line with requirements.
* Manage and promote zero tolerance Health & Safety culture.
* Utilisation of the of the estates CAFM system to manage and plan work to include reactive, planned maintenance, asset management, scheduling etc.
* Work with Project Managers to provide technical and managerial support in the delivery of capital schemes to include design and commissioning support.
* Management of specialised systems to include Water Management, Ventilation, Medical Gas, Pressure Systems etc.
* Lead, mentor and development of the front-line teams and third party contractors.
* Co-ordinate and manage engineering shutdowns.
* Involvement on both internal and external audits.
* Requirement to work hands on where and when required.
* Deputise in certain aspects for Engineering Manager.
* Participate in the On-Call escalation service to support on site staff out of hours (approx. 1 week in 11 weeks).
* Carry out Authorised Person duties following training and formal appointment in at least one discipline – ideally two.
What you will need for the role:
* Completion of a recognised appropriate Engineering Apprenticeship or other relevant structured training programme in a mechanical engineering discipline.
* Appropriate engineering certificated qualifications.
* Knowledge of Water Safety Management, Ventilation, MTHW, Steam, Pressure Systems and other mechanical related systems.
* Professional approach
* A good knowledge of workplace Health & Safety and Statutory Legislation
* Strong work ethic with a professional, flexible and customer focussed approach.
* Good communication skills.
* Computer literacy with ability to work with Microsoft applications.
* People management skills and experience.
* Ability to work individually and as part of a Team.
* Expert in pressure systems – Steam MTHW/LTHW
