An exciting opportunity has arisen for the post of Senior Practice Lead within our Child in Need Team based at Wyvern House, Winsford. This is a full-time post and is open to Grade Social Workers.
Cheshire West and Chester Council is a place where everyone can Thrive – through our core values of Teamwork, Honesty, Respect, Innovation, Value for Money, and Empowerment.
The remit of the role is to work in partnership with and execute the functions of the Principal Social Worker. Senior Practice Leads have a reduced complex caseload to maintain their expertise in practice. Their primary function is mentoring, developing, and shaping practice across the organisation, and in the support and assessment of newly qualified social workers through their AYSE programme. The role is closely aligned to supporting workforce development in reviewing and quality assuring training delivered to the social care workforce, delivering aspects of training, and facilitating reflective group supervision sessions within their localities.
We have developed a ‘hybrid’ working arrangement and are flexible in how we use our time by maximising the use of technology, whilst ensuring we can come together as teams and support networks regularly. This ‘hybrid’ arrangement allows for flexibility in providing services to children and families and enhances the work/life balance for our Social Workers, with a combination of office and home working. All our locality offices are recently refurbished and provide bright, modern workplaces that allow for collaboration between all our children’s services teams.
Our Children's Social Care workforce is passionate and committed to improving outcomes for children by providing a consistent, high-quality service to children and families, along with excellent working relationships with our partners and support from a stable leadership and management team. We are committed to a culture of shared learning and development in which everyone plays a part to ensure that our services to children and families focus on positive outcomes.
We have embedded ‘Our Way of Working’ with our multi-agency partners to ensure improved collaboration and one common approach to our work with families using Motivational Interviewing and Trauma-Informed Practice. You will be supported and encouraged to work creatively in planning and decision-making with children, their families, and our partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes with a focus on prevention at every level.
As a local authority, we have developed an inspirational social work offer to support and develop our valued workforce, including:
1. High-quality progression and developmental opportunities, including aspiring and Practice Educator programmes.
2. Free parking at all of our office locations.
3. We will pay your Social Work England registration fee.
4. Work-life balance, flexible and remote working arrangements available, including a smart mobile phone for all employees.
