At Rolls-Royce, weâve been a force for progress for over 100 years. And itâs whatâs fueling our next chapter as we power, protect, and connect people everywhere. Thatâs our vison for you, too. Join us and weâll provide an environment where you can be yourself. An inclusive culture that invests in you and gives you access to opportunities where you can grow your career and make a difference.\n\nFor over 60 years weâve provided the power for the UK Royal Navyâs nuclear submarine fleet, and at our site near Thurso we operate and manage the Vulcan Naval Reactor Test Establishment on behalf of the Ministry of Defence. Our apprentices play a vital role in helping us keep the UK safe.\n\nJoin us and you can expect outstanding career support from day one, debt-free qualifications, and the chance to build an amazing career in a friendly, supportive environment where you can be yourself and be your best. In your first year, youâll gain a strong foundation in the practical skills you need. Over the following three years, youâll broaden and deepen your knowledge through a range of attachments within our Submarines business all the while working towards completing your Apprenticeship Standard and gaining relevant engineering qualifications.\n\n\nThis is hands-on work. Throughout your apprenticeship you can expect to train on state-of-the-art products, equipment, and machinery. All while being guided and supported by engineering experts.\n\n\nYouâll be working on live projects and earn as you learn through formal training as well as practical experience.\n\nWhat could you become?\n\nYouâll develop specialist skills in your chosen area:\n\nMechanical Fitter: Follow detailed instructions and technical drawings to assemble mechanical systems for nuclear submarines and its support facilities, using hand and machine tools and measuring equipment.\n\nInstrument Technician: We use instruments to measure pressure, temperature, radiation, and chemical properties. Learn how to install, maintain, and repair defects on the equipment that is vital to our operations.\n\nElectrical Technician: Do detailed and specialist work installing, testing and\n\nadjusting electrical systems and repairing any issues in the wiring of our buildings, machines, and other equipment.\n\nDesign Technician: Learn to develop design solutions, using AutoCAD and 3D modelling software to update, maintain and produce the technical drawings our teams need. Youâll need a minimum of four National 5s in Maths, English and Physics/Engineering Science, plus one other technical subject at grade A-C.\n\nEvery bit as important as your academic achievements, are the personal qualities you bring to the role. Weâre looking for people who are adaptable, full of initiative and eager to learn and succeed.\n\nBeyond that, weâd like to see that youâre genuinely interested in the practical side of engineering or hands on activities. For example, we'd like to hear if you enjoy figuring out how things work; making things, or about a practical project you've done at school or home, or a club you've been involved with.
