Job Title: Lighting Technician Location: London, UK Scope of the Role: The Lighting Technician will be responsible for maintaining, preparing, installing, operating, and de-rigging production equipment for a variety of events. This includes specifying and preparing equipment, supervising on-site staff, and serving as a client/venue liaison when required. The role involves safely and efficiently delivering the lighting requirements for events, ensuring all aspects of production are planned and executed correctly. The Lighting Technician will work independently, as part of a team, or lead others to ensure the job is completed safely, on time, and to the highest standards. Key Responsibilities: Interpret and execute technical plans and instructions provided by senior team members. Rig, set up, focus, and de-rig lighting and related equipment within specified time frames. Work effectively under pressure to meet tight deadlines and build schedules. Demonstrate competent rigging without supervision. Troubleshoot and resolve technical faults. Program and operate lighting consoles as required. Serve as the on-site "responsible person" when needed. Liaise with clients and venue staff to ensure successful event delivery. Lead and manage rigging and de-rigging processes when directed by the Project Manager. Supervise and mentor other technicians, freelancers, and local crew on-site. Provide training and support to other Technicians, fostering their growth. Specify equipment needs for small to medium events based on project requirements. Book equipment using Insphire and manage pre-event prep, ensuring accuracy. Conduct warehouse preparation, including pre-addressing and creating looms for events. Assist in the warehouse with tasks such as picking, shelving, and basic equipment repairs or servicing. Perform deliveries and collections using company vehicles. Continuously develop skills by learning from peers and colleagues. Comply with all health and safety regulations and company policies. Represent the company in a professional and positive manner at all times. Undertake any additional duties as requested by line managers or senior staff on-site. Working Conditions: Non-standard hours, including evenings and weekends. Travel required, both nationally and internationally. Working under tight deadlines in high-pressure environments. Working at heights, as needed.
