Job Overview Band 4, 37.5hrs, Technician and Training Co-ordinator This is a combined technical, multi-media and administrative post requiring team working skills. The post holder will be responsible for all technical aspects of the high-fidelity simulation training courses that take place in the clinical simulation room at the hospital. This is a varied and dynamic post suitable for a proactive fast learner with knowledge of patient simulators, AV equipment, IT networks. The post-holder will be expected to demonstratethe technologies available to clinical and non-clinical staff and undertake the recording of training which will involve going into clinical and non-clinical areas. Main duties of the job Role Of Department The Simulation Suite and Skills rooms are located in the Education and Training Centre at the James Paget University Hospitals (JPUH). The Medical Education Faculty is led by the Director and Manager of Medical Education to manage, develop and deliver quality standards in medical education to the required specifications of NSHE (National Health Service England) GMC (General Medical Council) NMS (Norwich Medical School) and the Trust’s Education Strategy. The post holder will provide efficient and effective delivery of technical, multi-media and administrative support to the Faculty leads, working with all grades of clinical and non-clinical staff in the planning and development of simulation and specialist training courses. The post holder will work with heads of departments, senior clinicians and other professionals within the Trust in the planning and coordination of learners training. Detailed job description and main responsibilities Responsible for setting up and transporting of equipment to relevant rooms; simulation models, manikins, virtual learning headsets and other equipment required for simulation and specialist training courses. Prepare, plan and create realistic simulation scenarios working in conjunction with Faculty Leads. Live links – in conjunction with the Faculty leads set up multi-media required for skyped and live streamed events, test and undertake recording of audio / visual footage of procedures and practical skills, which involves taking equipment into theatres and clinical and non-clinical areas. Filming and editing - responsible for designing, creating and delivering photographic and video resources for a wide range of clinical and non-clinical areas, ensuring that appropriate consent and approvals are documented as per Trust policies and that an archive is maintained. Develop the use of a range of learning resources related to skills and simulation, including e-learning, podcasts and simulation scenarios. Set-up and maintain on line course evaluations and use of mobile devices to support teaching activities. Upload software updates to equipment and trouble shoot any issues with equipment and log-ins. Provide instruction, demonstrations and training of equipment to clinical and non-clinical staff and students and train others to use, ensuring safe use of equipment. Organise refresher training sessions for simulation faculty, maintaining a register of training. During education and training events be available throughout to ensure smooth running of the event and trouble-shoot any issues that arise. Person specification Education And Qualifications Essential criteria General Education to GCSE level with A - C in English Literature, English Language and Mathematics Desirable criteria A qualification in a multi-media or technical related subject or equivalent experience in technical / multi-media field Project Management or First Aid / Clinical qualification Knowledge And Experience Essential criteria Experience of creating, analysing and manipulating data. Experience of working in a simulation / education / clinical skills background Knowledge of web design, development and maintenance Desirable criteria Experience of delivering training to groups Experience of setting up and demonstrating the use of training equipment Skills And Knowledge Essential criteria Excellent communicator – able to communicate with colleagues, senior clinicians and patients in verbal and written form.
