Outreach Support Worker - SEN Life Skills - Newham, East London
We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Outreach Support Worker to support SEN students in Newham. This role focuses on helping young people with special educational needs-including those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and non-verbal communication needs-to develop essential life skills.
You will work alongside a tutor to provide personalised support, helping students gain independence and confidence in everyday activities such as travel training, communication, social interactions, and basic household skills
Key Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 and small group support to SEN students, focusing on life skills development.
Work closely with a tutor to implement tailored learning strategies.
Support students with non-verbal communication, using PECS, Makaton, or AAC devices where appropriate.
Assist with travel training, community engagement, and daily routines.
Encourage independence and build confidence in students.About You:
Experience working with SEN students, particularly those with ASD and non-verbal needs.
Knowledge of communication tools such as PECS, Makaton, or AAC (desirable but not essential).
Patient, empathetic, and adaptable in your approach.
Ability to motivate and engage students in practical learning activities.
