We're looking for a Strategic Catchment Planner to help us deliver our Drainage and Wastewater Management Plans. This role provides an exciting opportunity to influence and develop sustainable long-term drainage and wastewater strategic thinking across Severn Trent. As a strategic catchment planner, you will work closely with our consultants and support our internal teams towards building a portfolio of catchment knowledge to help deliver Severn Trent's waste performance ambitions.
Key to this role will be innovative process development and data analytics to understand current and future wastewater performance pressures. This will inform the development of business plans to address critical asset performance whilst having an appreciation of future demands on our waste assets, whether it be climate change, new development, asset condition, urban creep, or sewer misuse. Through the development of adaptive risk intervention strategies, your input will help Severn Trent deliver proactive catchment planning, enabling intervention measures to be delivered efficiently and in a timely manner.
Furthermore, as part of this role, you will actively support engagement with key external stakeholders, especially the Environment Agency, Lead Local Flood Authorities, and Local Planning Authorities, to provide insight and opportunities to influence future development plans.
To be successful, you'll need a good understanding of sewerage systems (covering storm overflows, pollution, flooding, and blockages), have an awareness of its interactions with wastewater treatment, have an understanding of hydraulic design principles, and the ability to appreciate how future demands could impact intervention strategies. With experience in data analysis and complex problem-solving, the successful candidate will need to be capable of writing succinct technical reports, as well as compelling business case papers.
Experience of implementing new processes and procedures from plans into business as usual will also form a key part of this role. As you will be required to work closely with our consultants, good communication and leadership skills are essential. You will also require the ability to effectively engage with internal stakeholders, varying from operational frontline staff to Strategic Leaders, and be able to represent Severn Trent when interacting with our external partners.
