Frailty Specialist Occupational Therapist
We have an exciting new opportunity for a Band 6 Specialist Frailty Occupational Therapist.
To support the transformation of the acute Occupational Therapy Service, this role will focus on utilising their unique professional skills for maximum impact for those with significant impact on their functional ability. The individual will take responsibility for the provision and development of an effective and highly specialised occupational therapy service within the hyper acute stage of admission, including pathways in Frailty Dementia/Delirium, Parkinson's, and any other identified pathway.
This is an opportunity to deliver specialist services whilst keeping occupation at the core of practice. With support from the Team Leader, the post holder will take a specialist clinical lead role in the provision and development of an effective and specialised Frailty Occupational Therapy Service, providing specialist education and advice as required.

Main duties of the job
1. To provide specialist Occupational Therapy assessments and intervention for patients admitted to the hospital while working alongside the care of older people team.
2. To deliver therapy directly and create assistant plans for persons admitted to support rehabilitation and/or maintenance of independence while an inpatient.
3. To assess and consider risks and to plan and deliver timely and safe discharges.
4. Preferably having some knowledge and experience of seating and positioning and postural management for clients with neurological deficits, supported and developed by clinical leads (B7).
5. Some skills and experience in cognitive assessment and cognitive rehabilitation, with the expectation to deliver this directly and create rehab plans for occupational therapy assistants to deliver.
6. To work in a fast-paced acute hospital alongside the multidisciplinary teams on the wards, working closely with physiotherapy colleagues and rehab assistants to deliver high standards of compassionate and person-centred therapy, with SMART goal setting focused on enabling function.
7. The candidate will participate in clinical audit, policy development and implementation, and be involved in the implementation of local and national standards.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Degree in Occupational Therapy
* HCPC Registration
Experience
* Significant clinical experience in a relevant area (NHS, SS, acute, community)
* Implementing a range of standardised and/or non-standardised assessments, including cognitive assessments and interpretation of performance.
* Experience in the supervision of junior and assistant staff.
Additional Criteria
* Specialist knowledge and application of Occupational Therapy assessments and intervention for older people.
* Specialist knowledge and application of Occupational Therapy assessments and intervention for patients with a neurological diagnosis.
* Advanced knowledge of seating and positioning, including the ability to assess for postural management and positioning clients with neurological deficits.
