We are looking for an enthusiastic Practice Manager with strong leadership skills and excellent communication abilities. The successful candidate will help ensure excellent patient care and support a positive, growth-focused environment for the staff. They will be responsible for effectively managing the day-to-day operations of the practice, with support from the GP Partner.
Main Duties of the Job
To provide a leadership role in the practice to support the GP Partner to deliver a comprehensive, quality-driven service to the patient population.
Developing, in conjunction with the Partner, the strategic direction of the practice through business planning and development, delivering on agreed objectives in the Practice Development Plan.
To initiate, manage and maintain an effective communications strategy, which will encompass internal and external communication.
Manage and maintain an effective human resources strategy to achieve the most effective and resource-efficient staff skill mix.
Develop, manage and maintain management policies and procedures to ensure that the practice premises are maintained to a high standard, and adhere to the Health & Safety at Work guidelines and ensure the practice complies with CQC regulations.
To identify the IM&T needs of the practice and implement a policy which takes account of current national and local strategy.

We are a small friendly practice with a patient population of approximately 2500. Our team currently consists of a GP Partner, practice manager (this role is available from October 2024), Nurse, Healthcare Assistant, and 4 Administrative staff.

Our surgery is located on Barnsley Road, Sheffield and close to Northern General Hospital. There is a private car park to the back.
Job Responsibilities
Overseeing day-to-day operations of the practice, ensuring staff achieve their primary responsibilities.
Functional management of all clinical & administrative staff.
Direct line management of staff.
Managing the recruitment process.
Establishing, reviewing & regularly updating Job Descriptions and Person Specifications.
Coordinating the reviewing & updating of all practice policies & procedures.
Developing, implementing & embedding an efficient business resilience plan.
Managing the financial elements of the practice.
Ensuring the team reach QOF targets.
Coordinating the practice diary, ensuring meetings are scheduled appropriately.
Liaising at external meetings as required.
The producing of practice newsletters on a quarterly basis.
Managing the Patient Participation Group.
Managing all complaints effectively.
Ensuring compliance with legislation & deal with disciplinary issues accordingly.
The management of the premises, including health and safety aspects such as risk assessments & mandatory training.
Managing the practice IT system, delegating staff to act as administrators.
Ensuring compliance with IT security & IG.
Coordinating of all projects within the practice.
Maintaining the practice website.
Deputise for the GP at internal & external meetings.
Act as the primary point of contact for NHS(E), ICB, community services, suppliers & other external stakeholders.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Good standard of education with excellent literacy and numeracy skills.
* Leadership and/or management qualification.
* Educated to degree level in healthcare or business.
Experience
* Experience of working with the public.
* Experience of managing accounting procedures including budget and cash flow forecasting.
* Experience of working in a healthcare setting.
* Experience of performance management including appraisal writing, staff development, and disciplinary procedures.
* Experience of successfully developing and implementing projects.
* Experience of workforce planning, forecasting, and development.
* Relevant health and safety experience.
* NHS or primary care general practice experience.
