About this client/child:
Archie, 10, is a fun-loving and sociable boy with a big personality. He adores being read to, enjoys arts and crafts, and is a huge Formula 1 fan. His older brother, Reggie, 12, is a cheeky and adventurous boy who is becoming increasingly independent. Archie has a heart condition called Long QT syndrome, managed with beta blockers and a pacemaker, and profound bilateral hearing loss, which is supported by cochlear implants. Due to a movement disorder, his mobility and speech are significantly restricted—he cannot sit unaided for long periods, crawl, or walk. While non-verbal, he communicates effectively using a high-tech speech-generating device. Archie is a happy and determined child, thriving with the support of a dedicated medical and therapy team. The family has recently adapted their home to include a lift and ceiling hoist to better support his needs.
Overview of role:
During the week, the SEN Nanny/Manny will be an integral part of Archie's routine, attending his regular physiotherapy appointments alongside his mum—you’ll truly be her right-hand person! Archie attends a local Conductive Education school, while his older brother, Reggie, is at prep school until he transitions to boarding school in September 2025. During term time, your mornings will involve helping Archie get ready and taking him to school. While he's at school, there will be nursery duties to take care of, including the children’s laundry and batch cooking (the family has a full-time housekeeper for general household tasks). In the afternoons, you'll collect Archie from school, assist with his personal care, prepare snacks, support him with homework, serve dinner, and, most importantly, engage him in fun and stimulating activities! School holidays allow for more time to plan exciting outings and experiences. While the primary focus will be on Archie, you may occasionally pick up Reggie from school. There is also the opportunity for overtime, including earlier starts, evening babysitting, and occasional weekend cover, as mutually agreed. The family is offering £21.00 gross per hour
Who this job would suit:
We are seeking a confident and experienced SEN Nanny/Manny with a strong background in special educational needs. The ideal candidate will be warm, caring, and able to think on their feet. You should be well-organised, responsible, and have a natural affinity for working with SEN children or young adults, while also bringing a sense of playfulness to the role. Experience supporting a young person with movement difficulties and an interest in therapy would be highly beneficial. You should also be comfortable working alongside mum at times and open to taking directions as needed.
What’s great about this job:
