This new role will mainly involve promoting bone donation, offering open and honest information, and receiving consent from potential donors. You must be passionate about the importance of tissue donation with a willingness to gain knowledge and learn valuable skills, and with full training, be named as a Person Designate (PD) on our HTA Licence.
Certificates will be requested at interview and during the onboarding process.
Main duties of the job
To raise awareness and promote bone donation to patients receiving hip replacement surgery. The successful applicant will work alongside the service manager monitoring all surgery activity, contacting patients via telephone, and meeting face-to-face to discuss bone donation, offering the latest accurate advice, reassurance, and receiving consent. Other duties include handling donated tissues, processing donations, and traceability documentation; attention to detail is a must for this role.
